The Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee has had document 72/TB-UBND directing the province’s participation in the discovering Viet Nam program scheduled for September 2015, in the UK.
Halong Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2, including 1,960–2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreenbiosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem. Halong Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.
Accordingly, QuangNinh asked the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the HaLong Bay management board to work with the Embassy of the UK to make video clips on QuangNinh and HaLong Bay and build 3D models on QuangNinh’s tourism to introduce on the programme.
The department worked closely with travel agencies, hotels, ships and tourism providers to build special tourism products and itineraries to offer on the programme.
Furthermore, the department prepared documents, publications, CDs, books, leaflet on QuangNinh tourism, HaLong bay and food specialties to promote QuangNinh and HaLong Bay
