Day 3: Hanoi – Hoa Lu – Tam Coc – Hanoi (B/L/-)

8h00 depart from Hanoi for Ninh Binh province (100 km), enjoying the rural scenery along the road. We spend one hour visiting the Dinh and Le sanctuaries. These are the two remaining temples of the ancient citadel of Hoa Lu. The first is dedicated to Dinh Tien Hoang (also known as Dinh Bo Linh), an Emperor from the Dinh Dynasty. The second commemorates the rulers of the Le Dynasty. Dinh Bo Linh successfully conquered Vietnam’s first independent rulers, the Ngo Dynasty. On his death in 980, General Le Hoan wisely married Dinh’s widow and established the Le Dynasty and enlarged the citadel.

Next stop is Tam Coc (Ninh Binh province) and get on a tiny boat for a peaceful cruise up the river (Tam Coc was known as Halong Bay on land). Tam Coc is best explored by boat as there are a series of interlinks caves and rowing through these natural marvels is quite a thrill. Then, visit to Bich Dong (Blue grotto).

Day 4: Halong Bay Cruise (B/L/-)

After breakfast, proceed to Halong Bay, was awarded by UNESCO as a natural heritage in 1994. This four hour drive will show you the diversity of the North Vietnam villages and rice fields along the journey. Arrive in Halong, take 4 hours boat trip in Halong Bay to view multi-shaped rocks and visit one of the most beautiful limestone grottos: Paradise Grotto (Thien Cung Grotto). Lunch will be served on boat with the fresh seafood. Return to Hanoi in the late afternoon, free for shopping at Hanoi Old Quarter. Accommodation at hotel in Hanoi.
